The 4th Annual Pacific
Northwest Brain Injury Conference 2006. “Living with Brain Injury: Creating a
Future” is the theme
for the BIAOR Conference scheduled for Friday, October 6 and Saturday, 7, 2006.
The conference will be held at the Holiday
Inn Hotel
Portland Airport and is sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of Oregon.
Presentations will highlight
the latest research, diagnosis and treatments
for brain injuries and behaviors resulting from injuries,
cutting-edge
basic and clinical research, and new therapies and medications, what’s working
in rehab both community
and medical settings, returning to work, returning
veterans from Iraq, and an advocacy workshop.
Invited are a broad group of participants from the western
states and British Columbia. Friday’s program will be targeted to
professionals, including attorneys, physicians, psychologists, medical
professionals, vocational rehab counselors, service providers,
advocates and
government agency case staff. Saturday’s program will add a community
track targeting survivors and
family members, social workers, case
managers and advocates.
The three tracks will
include: Medical, and professional support service providers with speakers such
as Oregon Senator Bill Morrisette,
former Oregon Congresswoman Tootie Smith, Dr.
Ron Heinz, Medical Driector, Oregon Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Dr.
Danielle Erb,
OR, Dr. Mark Ashley, CA, Dr. David Clemmens and Dr. Robert Fraser,
UW, WA, Dr. Alan Weintraub, Craig Hospital, CO, Lisa
Keller,
brain injury survivor and developer of the Brain Injury Recovery Kit,
Russ Spearman, Idaho State University,

gathering-addressing efforts to create
awareness of TBI among Native Americans.
We will be offering continuing education and medical credits, Category 1, for
professionals attending these sessions.
Saturday's program
will have three
topic tracks to appeal to both professionals as well as persons with brain
injury and their families.
Speakers will
discuss the ingredients in a successful
rehabilitation, coping strategies and critical elements needed to decrease
disability and move on to a full and happy life as well as a two hour advocacy
workshop.

health stakeholders at this pioneering Pacific Northwest regional conference.

You do not have to fill out the

However, we will need to know the number and names of your
company representatives who will be attending.
Payment of Sponsor or Exhibit
